The client approached ADF Engineering with a preliminary engineering design for a high performance lubricant plant which was to be an extension of their existing oil and lubricant facility. This project involved specification of a significant amount of process equipment including heat exchangers, vessels, pumps, and a reactor. The project was particularly unique due to the high reactor temperatures required to produce the lubricant and the high sensitivity of the powder ingredients to dust cloud ignition. This project involved working closely with the client to complete detailed process engineering, equipment specifications, plant layout, and piping design for the construction of a high performance lubricant facility.
P&IDs were prepared for the following areas
- Solids and liquids unloading and storage
- Pneumatic conveying
- Reaction and separation
- Waste recovery and reuse
- Product loading
A plan for the overall facility was developed including;
- Development and compilation of equipment specifications
- Procurement, review, and compilation of vendor quotations
- Complete 3-D modeling of the facility including integrated structural and piping designs
- Equipment layout plans and elevations
- Environmental calculations of facility air emissions for permitting
- 3-D modeling of the piping systems throughout the facility
